OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — Ocean City police have charged a Pennsylvania man with assault on a law enforcement officer after a bicycle officer was dragged by a car during a struggle.
Police say early Saturday officers tried to arrest a man for selling drugs to an undercover officer. The suspect fled and bicycle patrol officers found him as he was trying to leave. A struggle ensued inside the vehicle, and the suspect put his car in reverse, striking and dragging one of the officers.
The officer escaped by falling out of the vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital.
The suspect fled in his vehicle and was arrested hours later in a condominium.
Michael Joseph McGovern, 30, of Williamsport, Pa., was also charged with assault and drug and traffic offenses.
